I'm a highly experienced Brooklyn, NY-based writer, editor, copy editor, proofreader and researcher who'd love to speak with you about your publishing needs.
I've written and edited on staff for (most recently) Entrepreneur.com, where my job each day was to polish 1,000-word-posts by dozens of entrepreneur-contributors. Before that, I worked at Business Week magazine, Newsday, the Detroit News, two southern newspapers, and the trade magazine Restaurant Business.
Along the way, I've freelanced for the New York Times, Quartz, Bloomberg News, Parenting magazine, Inside Climate News, The National newspaper (in the U.A.E.), and several college and university magazines. I've written a contract book on PIMCO, the bond fund, and a book for teens about graphic design. I've copy- edited for Worth magazine and Simon & Schuster publishing company. And I've done research reportts for Duke University, the consulting firm Mercer Inc. and Primary Research Group, among other organizations.
I've also taught business writing at New York University as an adjunct professor for ten years.
Honors: While at Restaurant Business, I received the Jesse Neal, the trade press's highest awardr, for a cover story about a franchise war pitting farmer-franchisees in Iowa against KFC and other fast food giants. In the 1990s, I also received a top GLAAD award for a personal essay I wrote for Salon about single parents and adoption.
